Dr. Libon was an early pioneer in conducting research regarding neuropsychological syndromes associated with MRI evidence of white matter alterations and subcortical vascular dementia. For this research Dr. Libon was honored in 1998 with the Nelson Butters Award by the National Academy of Neuropsychology. More recently the Libon lab has used statistical modeling techniques to elucidate phenotypic syndromes in both dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Dr. Libon has published over 120 peer-review papers and recently co-edited a book on Edith Kaplan and the Boston Process Approach as related to clinical neuropsychological assessment. In 2015 Dr. Libon was honored by the International Neuropsychological Society with the Paul Satz Teaching Career Mentorship Award for his teaching and mentorship activities.

Robert G. Nagele, PhD, is a Professor and Director of Translational Research in the New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging at RowanSOM. His work has focused on the role of blood-brain barrier breakdown in the initiation and progression of neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer’s disease. More recently, he has been developing blood tests for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis using a single drop of blood, thus enabling early patient treatment where possible. Dr. Nagele has published 120 research articles in peer reviewed journals, has served as the research thesis mentor for approximately 50 PhD, DO/PhD, and MS students and has mentored numerous medical, graduate, and undergraduate students. He is the Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of a new biotechnology companies:Durin Technologies, Inc., which is developing new diagnostic tests for early detection of neurodegenerative diseases and cancer using autoantibodies as diagnostic biomarkers. Over 15 patents have been filed related to this work. Dr. Nagele is the recipient of numerous awards including a State of New Jersey Senate and General Assembly Joint Legislature Resolution in recognition of his development of a new diagnostic test for Alzheimer’s disease, the Ginsburg “Alzheimer’s Visionary Award,” the Beehler Research Mentor of the Year Award, the 2016 Global Innovator Award from Rowan University, the 2017 Health Institute of New Jersey Research Award, and several Excellence in Teaching and Excellence in Research Awards.

Dr. Tsompanidis was President of the NJ Association of Osteopathic Physicians in 2011 and is the current President of the NJ Chapter of ACOFP, President of the Monmouth County Osteopathic Medical Society, Assistant Speaker of the NJAOPS House of Delegates and a board member of the NJ Osteopathic Education Foundation as well as the RowanSOM Alumni Association. He has been the recipient of several medical and service awards including the rank of Eagle Scout, Outstanding Achievement awards for OMT and Family Medicine, the Alan Gartzman D.O. Memorial Award, induction into the AOA Mentor Hall of Fame, NJAOPS Service awards, UMDNJ-SOM Dean’s Appreciation Award, the rank of Fellow in the ACOFP and most recently a Teaching Dedication Award from Rowan University SOM.
